Using Seesmic for job recruitment

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Originally posted to Loic Le Meur’s French blog, written in French by the VP of Seesmic, Cyrille de Lasteyrie, and translated by Seesmic Intern, Alicia Kenworth.

New initiatives, ideas, and early uses appear in Seesmic every day.
This time, Pierre-Olivier Carles (whom Loic has known for years) has
begun recruiting for the position of Commercial Project Manager at
Stonfield InWorld
. This offer for the Paris-based position is a serious
one, concerning one of the company’s largest projects.

Applications have already started flowing in via private video
messages (no one, apart from Pierre-Olivier, sees the videos), yet the
recruitment process remains in full swing. If the job interests you,
please apply through Seesmic to Stonfield InWorld’s account.

We continue to brainstorm every day about new functionalities of
Seesmic dedicated specifically to businesses. This recruitment process
is a very exciting example of its use. We will let you know how it
concludes.

PS: In applying through Private Video, no one other than the
recruiter has access to your video. You may also re-record your video
multiple times before sending until you are satisfied with your
message. Simply check the box titled "Keep this video private". You may
also delete your video afterwards (removing it from the recruiter’s
inbox) at any time. Please find the announcement below. You may respond
directly in the player by clicking "reply".

Find the video, right after the jump:

jog on over to twhirl

Our CEO, Loic Le Meur alerted me to an interesting sight called JogTheWeb.com.  Jog The Web is an interesting sight where you walk through user generated, guided tours of websites.  It reminds me a lot of PMOG missions without the gaming aspect.

In this particular jog created by Kayembee, we are being given a tour of all there is no know about Twitter.  On step 2 of this jog, they bring you to twhirl.org, and state, "Twhirl is the hottest client today."  Notice they don’t say ‘Twitter client’, just client.  Smart peeps.

So if you are looking for more tools for Twitter, or want a quick place to send your sister to learn more about Twitter, you might want to think about sending them to this track on JogTheWeb.com.

The Social Calamari

I really like this chart (by the WalRus blog) of a social calamari (okay Seesmic is in it so I really like it even more!) but it is cool, see also the analysis by Oliver Chantelle.

Twhirl adds support for Identi.ca

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Ever since Rafe Needleman posted it on CNET, the news has been all a’swirl about twhirl.  Specifically twhirl adding support for identi.ca.  Identi.ca is a new microblogging technology by Evan Prodromou.

UPDATE: I just received an email from Evan that was sent 20 hours ago, however I’m glad to get it and am posting a comment from Evan Prodromou.  Evan says, "I’m excited to see this innovative interface, using open standards to
provide instantaneous updates on our friends and colleagues. We’re
honoured to work with Seesmic and we look forward to helping with
further development.
"

Marco Kaiser, the founder of twhirl, has this to say about the integration.  "[Identi.ca] is open in aidenti.ca logo
lot of ways. We received quite a few requests to add support for identi.ca
to twhirl, and since they released an API just a few
days ago, we gave it a try. It was surprisingly easy, and worked out of
the box. Plus, we were able to use the XMPP support to get real-time updates of messages from your followings."

Marco continues, "identi.ca is a very
twhirl logo
young service, just a few weeks old. So please keep in mind that it
does not support all functionality you are used to. For
example, it does not allow to send private, direct messages, so
everything you post is visible to everyone. There’s already a growing
developer community around the software that powers identi.ca, adding new features all the time. We will try to update twhirl regularly to keep up with new features that are introduced."

To get Twhirl, update through the automatic update mechanism in
twhirl, so it should prompt you for an update to the new version the
next time you start it. To do a manually install, please visit twhirl’s website.

For the rest of what Marco says about this release, check out the twhirl blog.

For more on that swirl of twhirl news, here are a few examples:

…and bunches more, thanks for the mentions everyone!

Oh, those French Seesmicers!

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Used by permission fred2baro

Reminiscent of one of my favorite videos of all time when the crew of College Humor did Harvey Danger’s ‘Flag Pole Sitta‘.  This video however was done by some French Seesmicers doing a song called, ‘La Carioca’.

fred2baro alerted me to this project, and gave me the background information, so thank you very much Fred!  dzo77 filmed the video on location where pioupiounette works in a movie theater as a Projectionist.

Let’s watch the video and I’ll give you the rest of the information after:

Fred also provided me with a list of who is in the video, in order of appearance:

msiou and blavettejulien
3cafes brings the coffee
pioupiounette starts to "sing"
then warzabidul
tybo
fred2baro
orchideane
kmeron and troiscafes welcome the camera
msiou and blavettejulien dance together
all together we dance
kmeron sings in the cinema
msiou
troiscafes
blavettejulien
on the screen
keepdafunkalive
Vinvin
gauthier
beehappy

But wait! There is more!  I asked fred2baro if there was an English translation, he coldn’t find one, so he translated it himself!  He also mentioned that he hopes Vinvin and otir won’t be shocked by it. :)  Also after the jump is a brief ‘making of’ video taken by Fred on his N95.

Thanks Fred!  Thanks thanks for this fun video everyone.
