Have you seen the new Seesmix?

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Seesmix noun \ˈsēzmiks\ 1. "A show produced by Giselle Kennedy and Whit Scott, hosted by Giselle Kennedy, that highlights the users and topics on the website powering the video conversation, Seesmic."

Seesmix originally started in the early days of Seesmic and has been a fantastic roundup of what happened each 24 hours.  The show took a break earlier this year, but has since started up again and is better than ever.  According to host, Giselle Kennedy, Seesmix is, "super duper."

Giselle also mentioned to me that if you have any comments about the show, or see a post or thread on Seesmic that you think ought to be highlighted by Seesmix, to please contact Giselle or Whit, which you can send them by email to their first name @seesmic.com.  Whit Scott also felt compelled to tell me, "[You're] the best," which I gladly accept and heartily agree with.

In the 'old' days, you could find Seesmix on Seesmic and on YouTube, but now they are keeping things in house and you can only find the show exclusively at seesmic.com/seesmix, or log in to Seesmic.com and follow user Seesmix.

Whit and Giselle are standing by to recieve your feedback on what you think should be included in the show, don't let them down.

The Seesmic Office

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

The Seesmic offices were recently visited by the folks at Office Snapshots.  The picture above is a cropped picture taken by them.

I don't work in the offices, but I'm told it was a pleasure to work with them, and there are a few stories to be told within those pictures.   If you want to hear a story or two about what is in the pictures, hit up our very own @askseesmic, Thomas Knoll, or Whit Scott, a content creator at Seesmic.

So check out the pics, over a dozen of them, on OfficeSnapshots.com.

Link TV Conversation about Obama Acceptance

(Joanikin)

Topic: Obama is giving his acceptance speech in a huge venue, with a performance by Bon Jovi. It's THE event. Is such a spectacle appropriate for someone who might be running a country--- or for someone who is only putting on a show? You can also follow their conversations about the DNCC and the election at Dear American Voter

Link TV, a Seesmic partner, asks these questions here in preparation for Obama's speech.

Obama: Celebrity or Leader?

Seesmic and LinkTV at the DNC, Day 3

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

It's day three and Dan Patterson and the crew from TalkRadioNews are rocking the DNC.

Also continue to participate in the video conversation at LinkTV powered by Seesmic.

Below is the latest update from Dan in a long thread that has been the center of conversation.  Please check it out, but also be warned, there is some harsh language.

Update: Dan Patterson walking us through a historic moment -- to the Delegate Roll Call Voting -- where we see and hear what happens from the convention floor in the moments before the delegates announce Barack Obama as the first black presidential nominee in US history.

I'm also reminding you about the RSS feed that Tiil has set up for Seesmic videos that are about the Democratic National Convention.

A Seesmic+Sprout use in Education with Howard Rheingold

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Almost since the very beginning of Seesmic, Educators were trying to use this medium for the benefit of communicating more effective with their students.  Quite a few educators and run expirements here on Seesmic to test the limits.  And finally, when I was helping man the booth we had recently at the New Media Expo, I talked to a LOT of educators that are still thinking these thoughts, and see Seesmic as a powerful tool in and out of the classroom.

Enter, Howard Reingold, who has a personal site, his Seesmic page, as well as a Wikipedia entry.  Howard is talking about using Social Media in education at SmartMobs.com and Hastac.org.

Here at Seesmic, we are thrilled that Howard is using the video conversation as the natural choice to discuss these ideas and participate with others to improve the educational process, particularly for this conversation which naturally is 'participatory learning'.  At SmartMobs, Howard is using Seesmic in conjunction with Sprout, which help you widgitize web content and put it where you want it, including Seesmic.  For more information about Sprout, please check out our previous post announcing our partnership.

Tiil interview on the podcast NinjaRadio

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

You can find the interview at NinjaRadio.  The show host, Ninja, calls Seeesmic the "next" social network, which I don't completely agree with.  We enable video conversation where you want it, not specifically being a destination as a social network.  It's an easy mistake to make. :) And some of the links referenced in the show are:

Hair Cut: tiil.us/seesmic/hair-cut
Searchmic: searchmic.com
Tiil on Seesmic

Tiil also gives many great examples of what Seesmic is and what he does with it.  We appreciate Tiil for his passion for the video conversation, and his willingness to talk about it at Podcamp Boston.

'Digital Natives' speak out

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

The first obvious question is "What is a 'Digital Native'?"  For the purposes of this post, a Digital Native is "the new generation who grew up with the Internet since they were young, and use it as a general tool for communication and other facets of everyday life."  This is the definition given by NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation, who are planning to air a special program about 'Digital Natives' this fall.

Senior Producer at NHK, Toshio Kuramata, says, "We are setting up a web site so that 'Digital Natives' [can] submit their thoughts. We [would] like to hear from [as] many 'Digital Natives' as possible with their own voice, about the meaning of the Internet and how they will eventually change the world using it."

The website Toshio is talking about is www.nhk.or.jp/digitalnative/en and they want to hear from Seesmicers like you since most of you fit the profile they are looking for.

Check out what Rachel has to say about it!

Most exciting internet moment?NHK TV special about 'Digital Natives.' Are you one? If so, load a video to their site: http://www.nhk.or.jp/digitalnative/en/
