Seesmic Web Users, Meet Seesmic Profiles

Starting today you can access your new profile in Seesmic Web. We are working very hard to bring Seesmic Profiles to our other applications very soon.

With Seesmic Profiles, you will have one dashboard for all of your accounts and Seesmic applications.

Getting started with Seesmic Profiles

There are two ways to get started with the new Seesmic Profiles :

— If you are an existing user, log-in with your Seesmic account, then re-authorize access to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

— If you are a new Seesmic user, welcome aboard! You can set up a new account to use Seesmic Profiles right away. After you sign-up, you will receive an email confirmation. Log in using this link, and add the social networks that matter to you.

Here are the new features in Seesmic Profiles:

  • All of the accounts that you see on your dashboard will be accessible in Seesmic Web.
  • Seesmic Web is only the first step of Seesmic Profiles. Our other products will follow soon.
  • You can access your dashboard by clicking on your email address in the upper right hand corner
  • You can access your account settings via the settings button next to your email address in the top right-hand corner
  • The settings are now a pop-up where you can access, add, and manage your accounts. It syncs automatically with your dashboard
  • You can configure your timeline refresh rate, Klout settings, and add your account in Settings.

Extra features:

  • Filter by Klout Score (in Filter setting found in each column)
  • Disable Klout Score (in Settings)
  • Search by Twitter Username or tweets
  • Block User (in Profile Pop-Up)
  • Remember timeline position when new tweets load – (configure in Settings)
  • See a list of who retweeted your tweets

We are very excited to see so many users across all of our applications : Seesmic Web,Seesmic Desktop 2, and Seesmic for AndroidiPhone, and Windows Phone 7.

  • Scheduled Updates:

We are still in the process of updating Seesmic Web. While we are doing this, any updates scheduled to be posted will be delayed until we are done updating. We’ll be sure to let you know when the process is complete.

  • 404 Error:

With our new changes, you might get a page saying 404 Error Not Found. If you are experiencing this, make sure to clear out the browser cache. It should work fine. If not, make sure to submit us a ticket here with details about your browser and version.

Introducing Seesmic for iPhone

Seesmic for iPhone brings an efficient perspective to social networking on a mobile platform. An application which enables Twitter, Facebook and – letting you update dozens of social networks at once (including MySpace, Tumblr, LinkedIn, Flickr, Blogger, and many more!), Seesmic for iPhone gives you the ability to see your friends timeline, your mentions and private messages, update or delete statuses, post links, upload pictures, geotag your updates and access user profiles. You can organize your accounts, searches, lists and trending topics all in a customized dashboard and navigate easily through it.

Integrating Twitter, Facebook and, you can access all all your accounts in one app. Switch between accounts or searches by swiping the screen, and post to multiple accounts at the same time. Group your friends' recent updates, replies, messages and profiles in one single screen. Catch up on new and older tweets, easily refresh or pick up your reading on a timeline from where you left off. By selecting a specific friend, you can access the entire profile.

Adding your Facebook account 

Accessing Facebook is right at your fingertips. Reading your live feed, the possibility to "Like" and "Comment" on your friends' posts are available in the Seesmic for iPhone app. With Seesmic for iPhone, you can view pictures, video or links attached to stories in your feed, and add your own in the composer.

Save on Evernote, Share Updates, Photos and Your Location

With Seesmic, you can save important messages and updates by storing them to Evernote. You can share updates by email and upload photos to the most popular photo upload service of your choice. You can also add your location to your updates, and see them on a map.

If information and speed are your main goals, Seesmic for iPhone is the app to choose. With the integration, you can post messages on up to dozens of social networks.



By accessing search on the top of each timeline, you can look through all Tweets, Usernames and Trending Topics. To save a search, you can assign it to the desired account and save it as a space on your dashboard. 


Twitter Lists 

With Seesmic for iPhone, you can load and organize your dashboard to include lists from your Twitter accounts. You can view public and personal lists or access the ones that have included you.

Native and Traditional Retweets 

Whether you select the native Twitter Retweet or use the Quote feature to modify the tweet, you can choose the format of the Retweet from the application settings.


Photo, Location Sharing and URL Shortener

When composing a message, Seesmic for iPhone offers three important functions: Photo sharing, Location sharing and a URL shortener. You can share a photo from your own gallery or capture a new one directly from the app. It's easy to share a link to your current location. By clicking "Add Location", all your friends will see where you are tweeting from. You can also configure the URL shortening service by going into your Seesmic for iPhone settings and entering your credentials.

Using Seesmic for Android to Add Other Web Applications like Tumblr,, & WordPress

UPDATE 3/3/11: Unfortunately, it looks as though tumblr does not support this service any longer and you can no longer connect to your tumblr account from within Seesmic for Android using the proxy support feature. You can still continue to use the proxy support feature to connect to your other social web accounts. Thanks!

Using Seesmic for Android, you can now connect to several different social web accounts such as, Tumblr and WordPress using our recently released proxy support feature.

Evan Prodromou from wrote a post on how to connect to a or site using the proxy support in Seesmic for Android. So what does that mean? It essentially means that you can access other web applications that uses the same connections as connecting with Twitter. It's as simple as connecting with another Twitter account.

The one requirement you need is to know what the API url is for that application. Here are the following API urls we're familiar with:

  • tumblr = http://<username>
  • wordpress =

Here's an example of connecting with a microblogging service like Tumblr. Here, we use a tumblr account to add into Seesmic for Android.

Seesmic Web Update – Contacts, Conversation Thread and much more

Seesmic Web can become from now on your new adventure to travel the Twitterverse. There are no limits for Seesmic web users to access their Twitter account and enjoy the full pleasure of these exciting new features.
We have relaunched Seesmic Web with these great features. These include: Contacts Manager, Conversation Threads and ReTweets, Twitter lists, GeoLocation and TweetMeme. 

Contacts Manager 

The most impressive and useful feature of Seesmic Web is the addition of Contacts. Using this top button, you will see all the users you are following. By clicking on a user name, you will find all the data introduced – number of followers and tweets, favorite tweets and the number of lists the user follows. 


Conversational Threads and ReTweets

Conversational Thread is one of the most alluring new features of the application. If you want to see the tweet exchange between you and other users, by clicking on <in reply to> you can see the set of replies. In ReTweets column, you verify the ReTweets you created, RTs by others and which of them were considered valuable and ReTweeted by your followers.  You can now either choose between the new RT and the old style ReTweet, now found in the Quote feature.



GeoLocation is one feature of high interest in Seesmic Web. Once you have enabled it in your Twitter Settings account and use Google Gears, your followers will be able to see the location the tweet was sent from. 

Twitter Lists – Edit with Drag and Drop

When you are in Seesmic web and want to add more members to your lists, you can now edit or even delete your Twitter lists. When discovering new users, you can just drag and drop them into the specified list and this addition will be automatically saved. If you want to create a new one, simply click on New List. On the contrary, if you feel that a list has to be deleted, this can now easily take place in Seesmic Web.


Clicking on the first part of a link, which is specifically individualized with a plus sign, you will enable the new TweetMeme option. The opened window announces the name of the site the link will take you to, the number of times it was ReTweeted and the starting part of the article. 


Other features include:

  • improved and highly attractive user interface

  • seeing in Contacts your relations with users – if you follow your followers,
  • direct link to the Feedback site of Seesmic Web where you can send us your thoughts on improving Seesmic Web

Building and Growing our Products Through our Team Seesmic Community

With over a half a dozen Seesmic Products (Seesmic Desktop, Seesmic Web, Seesmic for Windows, Seesmic for Android, Seesmic for BlackBerry,, Seesmic Look), one of the key components in helping us shape our applications is our community of users.

At Seesmic, we've always been fortunate to have a community of supporters who not only use our products, but provide honest and helpful feedback. While we use various and known channels to connect with our users such as our feedback forum, our help site, Twitter, Facebook, we find great value in our Team Seesmic community.



What is Team Seesmic? Currently, there are two channels of Team Seesmic. One is our periodic newsletter, where we give exclusive updates on the releases of our various products with some surprises sprinkled along the way. The second is our Team Seesmic site where we have dedicated users that provide valuable insight in helping us improve our products. Within Team Seesmic are also private forums for testing some of our newest beta releases such as our Seesmic BlackBerry testers. We've also have had certain case-testing sessions to help us track down and diagnose and problem-solve some of our issues to help our developers troubleshoot issues. Just as important, Team Seesmic also gives and opportunity for some of our developers to be engaged withour users.

How do you join Team Seesmic? For our newsletter, you simply need to sign up on our website at – this allows you to get our latest updates. To join our Team Seesmic community site, you'll need to fill out a very brief form. You can view and browse throughout the site, but in order to engage or join a forum, you'll simply need to sign up.
